| Picking baby shower activities can
be the most amazing and fun part of planning a baby shower. It can
also be the most stressful thing you’ve done in years. It
can be tough to pick a variety of fun games that everyone at the
shower, some of whom have just met each other for the very first
time, will be willing to throw themselves into. Sure there’s
the baby dance or other such antics, but there are many less embarrassing
ideas out there for you and your guests to enjoy.
To begin with, there are a ton of word puzzle games which can easily
be created on your computer and printed out for the early comers
to enjoy while they wait for the rest of the guests to show up.
For instance, you might want to browse the web for a site which
will allow you to create your own word search and enter in baby
names or words having to do with babies as the clues. Many sites
will allow you to create a similar crossword puzzle for guests craving
a bit more of a challenge. For the really brainy types, you could
even make anagrams out of baby names or words, and get your guests
to rearrange them into their proper order.
When the party starts really winding up, you can roll out some
“wilder” activities. Try this for some real fun. Fill
up a bunch of infant diapers with little bits of crushed up candy
bars. Use whatever you want, Milky Way, Reese’s, the key ingredient
is chocolate, so even plain Hershey’s works fine. Wrap up
each diaper and invite your guests to poke their noses in and take
a whiff. The sheer comic effect of each of their faces screwing
up in various ways while they try to guess what’s in each
diaper is worth every second.
Of course, there’s no need to go that extreme with your party
if you don’t want to. If you’re looking for some mellower
group activities you might want to try some classic board games.
Grab some games like Taboo, Pictionary, or Scattergories and create
your own baby-themed cards to replace the normal cards included
in the box.
Whatever fun activity you pick, your baby shower is going to be
a memorable experience. It’s not necessary to twist yourself
into knots to figure out fun things to do. There are lots and lots
of different games and puzzles that naturally lend themselves to
a baby-themed experience. You’re practically guaranteed to
come up with something the whole guest list will love.
As far as gifts go, why not show that the baby’s got some
style by rocking them out with your favorite band’s t-shirts,
onesies, and logo accessories. Maybe you like Johnny Cash, The Ramones,
Led Zeppelin, or 311. There's something for you. There are also
clothes for "punk rock" kids; there are rock maternity
clothes, rock diaper bags, and more. Other baby clothing and accessories
include: Infant skate shoes, clothes with slogans, rompers, beanies,
baby bibs, and baby shower favors.
