| When invited to a baby shower your
initial fear is, "What on earth do I get as a gift?" No
problem. In this article, we're going to give you a great guide
to buying the perfect gift for the Mom-to-be.
Your first step is to evaluate the Mom and get an idea of what
she will need. If the mom is a first time mom then that is a perfect
time to look at getting her the essentials. What I mean by essentials
is the following list of items that is necessary for a first time
mom:
- Baby First Aid Kit
- Baby Bath Kit
- Outlet Plugs
- High Chair
- Wash Cloths
- Onesies
- Stroller
- Packs of bottles
- Bottle Brush
- Diaper Bag
This list could go on forever but the point is that a second time
around mom may not need these items. As the story goes the rules
are supposed to be that it is not appropriate to have a second baby
shower but I think the rules no longer apply. You could have a mom
to be that had a girl first and is now having a boy and she will
need a shower to have gender appropriate gifts, so out with your
grandmothers rules and just do what is right.
So now that you have decided what she may need, then you can shop
for of course the gender appropriate items such as clothes, blankets,
crib sheets or any other items that may be pink or blue. To be on
the safe side most people go for the gender neutral yellows or greens.
A great idea if cannot decide on one specific item is to make a
gift basket. One idea is to have a small laundry basket with gifts
like baby laundry detergent, baby clothes hangers, blankets, baby
towels, bath products and other baby hygiene products. Or you can
always stuff a diaper bag with diapers, diaper rash ointment, lotions,
wipes, and whatever else you can manage to fit. I personally love
to do the gift bags or baskets because all of those items are needed
and certainly will be used. If you are being budget conscious and
want to but one simple item of course you can never go wrong with
a pack or box of diapers. Moms can never have enough diapers or
baby wipes. Just make sure you get a size larger than newborn because
some babies may be too big right from the beginning.
There are also new disposable diapers that are made from recyclable
material and are 100 % recyclable for your GREEN moms so they are
perfect products for any mommy to be.
Also make sure if you are attending a couples shower that you make
the Daddy to be a part of the shower as well. Get the dad a small
gift as well such as a man diaper bag. These can be found at most
stores that carry baby items now for the on the go dad that needs
a manlier diaper bag.
If you are not a shopping friendly person you can never go wrong
with a gift card!
